Associate Professor: Po-An Chen

Po-An Chen is currently an associate professor in the Institute of Information Management, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. He is generally interested in economics and computation, artificial intelligence, and operations research, specifically including algorithmic game theory, theoretical machine learning, social networks, and multiagent and distributed systems. His current focus is on the performance analysis & computation of equilibria and design of learning algorithms for repeated games, markets and multiagent systems. He has published journal articles in Artificial Intelligence, ACM Transactions on Economics and Computation, Theoretical Computer Science, Theory of Computing Systems, Operations Research Letters, Information Processing Letters, among other leading computer science conference proceedings. He is also a visiting scholar in the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica, Taiwan and held a Taiwan’s Top University Alliance visiting scholar fellowship in the Department of Computer Science, Harvard University (Aug 2017 – Jul 2018). He completed his postdoc in the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica (Dec 2011 – Jul 2012), supervised by Prof. Chi-Jen Lu, and a summer internship in Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica, the Netherlands (Summer 2010), supervised by Prof. Guido Schaefer. He obtained his doctoral and MS degrees from the Department of Computer Science, University of Southern California (Aug 2011 and May 2007, respectively), advised by Prof. David Kempe, and both his MBA and bachelor’s degrees from the Department of Information Management, National Taiwan University (Jun 2003 and Jun 2001, respectively), advised by Prof. Yih-Kuen Tsay. He worked as a research assistant in the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica (Jun 2003 – Jul 2005), supervised by Prof. Ting-Ruey Chuang.
